Monitoring and measurement

A term commonly used throughout the ISO suite of standards, meaning that monitoring, measurement and evaluation must be undertaken and periodically reviewed to:

  1. evaluate the effectiveness of the system
  2. verify the extent to which the organisational, stakeholder and legal requirements have been met
  3. review its suitability, adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency
  4. demonstrate that planning has been successfully implemented
  5. assess performance of processes, and
  6. determine the need or opportunities for improvements.
