A low-carbon economy (LCE) is an economic system where primary sources of energy used have minimal amount of associated GHG emissions (mainly solar, wind, hydro, nuclear, geothermal, etc). A transition to low-carbon economy implies a systemic switch in economic activities of production, consumption and trade, as well as the inter-relationships of these activities with natural asset base, public policy measures and mechanisms available to governments, and behaviours.
