EU Directive 2009/72/EC on Electricity

A European Union directive that applies to electricity markets in the EU. It sets rules for how market participants may generate, transmit, and distribute electricity. The goal of the directive is to increase open access, transparency, and fairness in the electricity market. The overall aim of the directive is to protect consumers, market participants (including existing and new entrants), and the environment.
