Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)

A mandatory assessment scheme that applies to certain organisations in the United Kingdom, established as part of the implementation of the requirements of Article 8 of EU Directive 2012/27/EU on Energy Efficiency. ESOS requires large organisations outside of the public sector to conduct Energy Audits and assess their energy use and efficiency at least once every four years. Companies can be liable for fines if they fail to conduct the required audits.
