The process whereby public, private or other sources can help fund endeavours that work to combat climate change and the transition to a climate-resilient economy by enabling mitigation actions, especially the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and adaptation initiatives promoting the climate resilience of infrastructure as well as generally of relevant social and economic assets. International agreements like the UNFCCC, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement call on those with the financial ability to help fund these types of projects, especially within vulnerable communities.
