Also called the ‘bottom of the pyramid’, an economic term that refers to the nearly two-thirds of humanity (>4 billion people) living in poverty. Base of the Pyramid also refers to a market-based model of economic development that seeks to bring economic opportunity to those in widespread poverty while providing growth and profits for multinational corporations.
